I'm starting a series on MLB draft reports today. I hope you enjoy them and reply with decent ideas to improve. Today's prospect:
Sonny Gray:
Pitcher
Smyrna High School Tennessee
Senior
D.O.B. 11/7/1989
6’1”
180 lbs
Right handed
Summary: Fastball is around 93 mph and hittable when left out in the open. A little movement is visible on the fastball. He has a breaking ball he can use to his advantage. Slider is almost a more powerful curveball. Changeup is hittable but well disguised in outings. Gray is a good competitor on the mound and is a good, but undersized right-hander. He has a quick arm with good command and two decent offerings he can throw for strikes. His only weakness is his size.
Projection: Top Ten pick.
